Oakville, Ontario (June 26, 2018) – The NVT Phybridge EC Extender Kits are designed to supercharge the downlink ports of a standard Ethernet switch delivering PoE over Coax infrastructure with distances up to 6,000ft (1,830m). That’s 12X the reach of standard Ethernet switches, thus removing the costs and disruptions associated with multiple IDF closet requirements. Each EC Extender Kit is conveniently packaged and includes an EC-Link+ or EC4 Adapter, an EC-Base Extender, and an external power supply.

Megaplaza Jaén Ensures Physical and Cyber Security While Modernizing to IP Cameras
Megaplaza Jaén is one of the largest shopping centers in Peru and offers a wide range of services, including restaurants, movie theatres, banks, car dealerships, and retail outlets. The shopping center had already been built and open for a year, but still required a robust and reliable video surveillance system. The immense size of the three-story shopping center presented critical challenges in the implementation of an IP-based security system. The distances required to connect the cameras in areas inside and outside the shopping center were well beyond the 328ft (100m) reach limitations of standard Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches. Megaplaza Jaén had a robust coax wiring infrastructure throughout the entire facility that the owners were confident in leveraging to support the new surveillance system.
The surveillance solution needed to cover all areas both inside the mall and the outside perimeter. Specific challenges had prevented the customer from deploying IP cameras, which included:
Long reach requirements prohibiting the installation of cameras on the perimeter of the building
Loss of revenue caused by business disruption
The need for costly IDF closets that would occupy rentable floor space
Due to the organization’s digital transformation challenges and objectives, the reseller partner, Telvicom S.A., introduced the customer to technology innovator NVT Phybridge. Telvicom S.A. had used NVT Phybridge products in past installations and was confident in the solution. Based on an analysis of the customer’s environment, NVT Phybridge recommended Modern LAN design and the award-winning CLEER24 solution. The CLEER24 (Ethernet over Coax) switch, with SmartPathPoE technology, provides Ethernet and PoE+ over any new or existing Coax infrastructure with up to 6,000ft (1,830m) reach; 18 times farther than standard PoE switches. Megaplaza Jaén was interested in the solution and organized a no-obligation proof-of-concept to test the technology on-site.
In just 3 simple setup steps, the CLEER24 switch transformed the shopping center’s existing Coax infrastructure into a robust and secure IP platform to support the new IP cameras. By repurposing the existing point-to-point Coax infrastructure, the customer was able to centralize all switches in a single location to simplify management and optimize port utilization. “For us as integrators, the less equipment a system has – the easier it is to detect an error. This was optimized with the NVT Phybridge solution,” said José Luis Rojas, spokesperson for the installation company.
Megaplaza Jaén can now transmit high-quality live video feeds to a centralized monitoring location. The long reach PoE capabilities ensured that cameras could be placed throughout the entire building to ensure the safety of individuals in all locations, including parking lots and loading areas.
