Challenge

The Scion Group, managing a diverse portfolio of student apartment complexes across multiple U.S. cities, faced a significant challenge in modernizing its surveillance systems. The existing analog system was supported by a proven coaxial and CAT5 backbone. Transitioning to an IP-based system was essential to enhance safety and security for residents. However, the prospect of a complete network overhaul across multiple properties was financially prohibitive and logistically complex. Replacing the existing cabling, cooling, and other supporting infrastructure would have involved extensive labor, potential damage to existing infrastructure, and significant downtime, which was unacceptable for the high-occupancy student apartments. Solution

In Riverside, California, while CAT5 cabling was already in place, the previous cameras were analog.
