- NOWEDA needed to upgrade its communication capabilities throughout 20 German warehousing facilities but faced high network costs, business disruption, and complexity caused by re-cabling requirements.
- The customer learned about NVT Phybridge and was thrilled to learn that the PoLRE long-reach PoE switch would simplify and improve the digital transformation project.
- NOWEDA used PoLRE PoE switches to deploy over 300 Unify IP DECT devices using existing network cabling, reducing project costs, complexity, business disruption, and deployment times.
NOWEDA, a leading German pharmaceutical wholesaler, needed to upgrade its communication capabilities and deploy over 300 IP DECT devices throughout 20 warehousing facilities. The existing analog communication system was outdated and unreliable, which caused significant operational disruption and high maintenance costs. The organization needed to complete the IP upgrade but was concerned with the potential business disruption caused by re-cabling requirements. NOWEDA needed to find an innovative solution to help overcome infrastructure barriers and complete the digital transformation.
After thoroughly researching all networking solutions that could enable IP DECT devices using the existing single-pair UTP cabling, the customer discovered the NVT Phybridge PoLRE long-reach PoE switch. The reseller, InterData Systems, helped the customer proceed with a free, no-obligation proof-of-concept to test the equipment on-site.
After a few simple setup steps, the PoLRE switch transformed NOWEDA’s existing J-Y(ST)Y wiring infrastructure into a secure and robust PoE backbone for the new IP DECT devices. The PoLRE switch delivers Ethernet and PoE over single-pair UTP cabling with up to reach – four times the reach of standard Ethernet switches. The customer was impressed with the PoLRE switch and decided to proceed with the digital transformation project across all 20 locations.
NOWEDA used the PoLRE switch to deploy over 300 IP DECT devices across its extensive warehousing facilities. InterData Systems transformed the customer’s existing network cabling into a robust and secure PoE backbone for the new system, reducing network readiness costs, business disruption, and cabling e-waste.
InterData Systems used the PoLRE switch to complete the project with minimal network downtime while eliminating the need to install new cabling, . NOWEDA now has access to advanced communication capabilities across several sites that improves its overall efficiency and productivity. Also, the company furthered its commitment to environmental sustainability by preventing over 900 kilograms of cabling e-waste.
The NOWEDA IT team was extremely satisfied with the outcome of the project. “The NVT Phybridge PoLRE PoE switch was simple to implement, stable, and error-free since we integrated them into our overall network,” said Axel Hentschel, Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations, NOWEDA. “The PoLRE switch saved us a lot of time, money, and effort for our teams.”
NOWEDA is committed to reducing its ecological footprint through a wide range of environmental protection measures and initiatives. Its facilities use energy from 100% renewable sources, and the organization has planted thousands of trees to support climate protection and conservation. In line with its ongoing environmental sustainability initiatives, NOWEDA used NVT Phybridge network technologies to prevent over 900 kilograms of cabling e-waste by leveraging its existing infrastructure.
